Barn Cats the Cat needs a home

$10 ages est 4-8

"Barn cats "Semi feral" Feral" are cats that have ended up being relocated for one reason or another and have been fixed and are up-to-date on vaccines. The Barn cats are not overly friendly house cats and are not suitable as a household pet. They will typically be adults that are known to survive on their own and will make good mouse catchers for barns or warehouses.

How to adopt a barn cat:

Once you adopt a barn cat you will need to leave them locked in an area where the temperatures are not too extreme and they can calm down and adjust to their new place to live or they will immediately run away. The acclimation time is typically 2 weeks. After two weeks time you simply open their enclosed space and allow them to start to explore leaving them access to their original place to retreat to and hide. You will need to be able to supply food (small amount daily then wean to every other day if rodent population is high) and always keep out fresh water.

We suggest you have a cat trap on hand (can purchase at harbor freight for about $30) if the cat becomes sick or injured you will have a method to capture it to get it to a vet even if you don't want to provide medical care for the cat, they deserve a humane euthanasia and we ask they not be left to suffer if they are injured or sick.

When we have barn cats available for adoption they typically have different levels of tame.

The pics provided are examples of barn cats we have had in the past at our rescue.

At this time Pet Angels has no barn cats for adoption but some of our fellow rescuers still have some barn cats that are seeking homes.  If you submit an application we will share it with our rescue friends.

Please go to www.petangelsrescue.org and fill out an APPLICATION FOR CRITTERS, since these cats are not house kitties!
